In an interim order, Justice Mini Pushkarna noted that Himayani’s case was “prima facie” in her favor and that if the content was not removed, “irreparable harm” would be caused to her. The court announced the matter in August.
The HC also restricted users from posting or disseminating such content on social media and said that if users do not delete posts, relevant platforms should delete or block access to such content.
Mahesh Jethmalani, Himayani’s senior lawyer, called the accusations “a figment of the imagination” and said it was a “well-planned attack” motivated by “personal and political malice.” He claimed that even “self-proclaimed journalists” had shared defamatory content.
