According to a post on the X account, Make Europe Great Again, Malia Obama admitted that “her parents were not her real parents at all.” The post has now gone viral, with over a million views and thousands of reactions.

The post claimed that far-right social media content creator Nick Shirley got “Malia Obama to admit” that Barack and Michelle Obama were not her parents. The article goes on to quote Shirley.

“She had no idea who I was,” Shirley said, according to the viral post. “After a few drinks and some small talk, she started confiding in me how difficult it was to grow up with lies.”

However, the post appears to be false as there is no evidence that Ilhan Omar said anything similar. Ht.com can confirm that Nick Shirley has not posted on social media or made any comments about Malia Obama on his podcast.

As of 2026, Malia Obama (now 27) works primarily as a film producer and commercial director in Los Angeles, pursuing a low-key creative career under the name “Maria Ann.” Her short film “Heart” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024 and won an award. She also directed a high-profile Nike advertising campaign starring WNBA star A’ja Wilson and her “A’One” sneaker line.

Obama under scan for WHCD shooting

Recently, there was a backlash over comments made by Barack Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) regarding the shooting. Obama claimed in the X post that shooter Cole Thomas Allen’s motive was unclear. The comment ruffled feathers among many Trump supporters on social media.

“While we do not yet know the details of the motive for last night’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, we all have a responsibility to reject the idea that violence has a place in our democracy,” Obama wrote. “It is also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service agents display every day. I am grateful to them and thankful that the agent who was shot and killed will be OK.”
