ExtraEmily lifts ban on Twitch one day after being suspended for distracted driving

Twitch streamer ExtraEmily was suspended from the platform for a distracted driving incident during a live broadcast, and was unbanned from the platform just one day later. The channel is available again after Twitch temporarily removed the streamer’s channel for violating community guidelines. On June 28, a video of her live-streaming in real life went viral on social media, showing her looking away from the road while driving, and was subsequently suspended. Although no one was injured and no crash occurred, the incident quickly sparked criticism online and led to Twitch taking action against her account.

ExtraEmily returns to Twitch after one day suspension for distracted driving

ExtraEmily’s Twitch suspension lasted approximately 24 hours before the platform reinstated her account. Visitors can now access her channel again, after it was briefly replaced with a notification stating that the channel was inaccessible due to a violation of Twitch Community Guidelines. The ban comes after an IRL live video went viral showing ExtraEmily driving while making a left turn. At that moment, she seemed to be looking at her phone instead of keeping her eyes on the road. As another car approached from the opposite direction, the driver honked his horn, helping to avoid what could have been a serious accident. After the incident, ExtraEmily admitted that the mistake was her fault.“Oh, sorry! My bad! That was my fault. I had to check my… Oops!” she said during the live broadcast. She also thanked another driver for honking his horn, saying it helped prevent the situation from getting worse. There was no collision and neither vehicle appeared to suffer any damage.

Viral driving video reignites criticism of driving streaming

Later in the livestream, ExtraEmily explained that she had been using the Tesla’s Autopilot while driving earlier but turned it off shortly before the incident. She added that she usually drove with Autopilot on and they were almost at their destination when the close call occurred.Twitch’s Community Guidelines clearly state that dangerous or distracted driving is not allowed while interacting with live streams. The rules state that it is prohibited to read chat messages or use streaming devices while driving without taking your eyes off the road or taking your hands off the wheel. The latest suspension also reminded many viewers of a similar incident involving ExtraEmily in April 2025. At the time, she was suspended from Twitch for another day after a live stream appeared to show her running a red light while looking at her phone. After the latest incident, some streamers and viewers have once again called on Twitch to introduce stricter rules that prohibit live streaming while driving.ExtraEmily’s account is now back online, but the incident continues to spark discussions about road safety and whether creators should livestream while operating a vehicle. While the moratorium has ended, the discussion surrounding distracted driving on livestreams is unlikely to end anytime soon.
