At least eight workers were burnt alive and two others may have been trapped after an explosion sparked a fire at an illegally lit factory in Alwar Bhiwadi industrial area in Rajasthan, officials said. About 25 workers were present when the stored gunpowder and cardboard caught fire, which quickly intensified, they added. Authorities evacuated nearby factories and cut off power, and firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before basically bringing the blaze under control.
