European Commission suspends police officer over ‘partisanship’

The decision comes amid rising political tensions in North 24 Parganas. The BJP was accused of distributing cash to voters before the polls.Police have detained two BJP netizens – Tarun Mondal and former Assam MP Kishore Nath – allegedly for distributing money to residents. The BJP, however, dismissed the allegations as baseless and claimed that the police acted under the influence of TMC members.
