New Delhi: The Election Commission on Tuesday extended West Bengal’s SIR deadline by two weeks, allowing till February 21 to review documents and process claims and objections.The state’s final electoral roll will now be released on February 28 instead of February 14. This is in line with the Supreme Court’s directive to the committee on Monday to extend the deadline for review and processing of documents “by at least one week” beyond February 14. This is the fourth extension of SIR for West Bengal. According to the original SIR order issued on October 27, 2025, the review would last until January 8; that deadline was first extended to January 15, and then a second time to January 19. On January 20, the SC further extended this deadline to February 7.According to the latest SIR schedule released by the EC on Tuesday, the SIR notification hearing will continue until February 14, and the document review and disposal will end on February 21. Rationalization of polling stations will be completed by February 25 and health parameters of the electoral roll will be checked on February 27. The final release date of the West Bengal electoral roll has now been revised to February 28.
