Manmohan Singh in Lok Sabha (from a 2005 clip shared by Jairam Ramesh)

New Delhi: Amid ongoing row Rahul Gandhi stop giving speeches in the Lok Sabha and Prime Minister ModiThe lecture was cancelled, congress Leader Jairam Ramesh shared old video Manmohan Singh It pointed out that the then Prime Minister “was unable to respond to the motion of thanks on June 10, 2004.”He alleged that amid the current political impasse in the Lok Sabha, the BJP had made a series of posts on X to prevent then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from delivering a presidential address in 2004.Ramesh shared a video showing Singh’s 2005 speech on social media platform X. In that speech, Singh mentioned being unable to speak the previous year. Quoting Singh in 2005, Ramesh recalled the former prime minister saying: “Mr. Mr. Speaker, I consider it my Government’s gratitude to stand here today to address the Honorable Rashtrapatiji to Members of both Houses of Parliament. The current parliamentary deadlock escalated sharply on Wednesday. Opposition female lawmakers rushed to the prime minister’s seat holding protest banners. They demonstrated against US trade deals and former army chief Naravane’s unpublished book. Prime Minister Modi was not present when this incident took place. The interruption occurred around 5 pm, exactly when Prime Minister Modi was expected to reply to the discussion on the motion of thanks. When opposition members entered the House, PP Chaudhary, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was speaking. This despite attempts by chairperson Sandhya Rai to maintain order. Eventually, the chaos led to the prorogation of the Lok Sabha and Prime Minister Modi’s speech on the motion of thanking the President for his speech was cancelled. The row initially started on Monday when Rahul Gandhi tried to quote excerpts from an unpublished book during a parliamentary session. In August 2020, Gandhi tried to raise the issue of India-China confrontation but was repeatedly interrupted by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and later Home Minister Amit Shah, who objected to the use of what they said were unverified sources. The book’s author, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, was the Chief of Army Staff at the time of the Ladakh conflict.Tensions remained tense on Tuesday as eight opposition legislators, seven from the Congress and one from the CPI(M), were suspended pending the remainder of the budget session. While Prime Minister Modi was now scheduled to address the Lok Sabha on Thursday, his Lok Sabha address was canceled following the motion of thanks passed by the Lok Sabha.
