A packed LGBT+ nightclub in Finney Stratford, near Milton Keynes, was engulfed in flames in the early hours of Sunday morning, sending hundreds of revelers into panic. However, no injuries were reported as staff and security personnel were quickly evacuated.According to the BBC, a fire broke out at the Pink Punters restaurant around 2 a.m., and police responded immediately. Witnesses described chaotic scenes, with sirens blaring and staff telling people to evacuate immediately.
Thames Valley Police confirmed a 51-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.He remains in custody. As the investigation continues, authorities urge the public not to speculate on a motive.
Molly Firman, who was at the scene with friends, said the situation escalated within minutes. “It was just a normal night – drinking, listening to music, no problems – and then all of a sudden the staff screamed ‘you need to get out now’,” she recalled.She described the blaze as intense and surreal, adding that the flames spread quickly and attracted a large crowd of onlookers outside.
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed 12 fire engines to put out the worst areas of the fire. Crews arrived on scene shortly after 2:09 a.m. and were expected to remain on scene for an extended period to extinguish hot spots.Video circulating on social media showed extensive damage to the nightclub, but officials said a full structural assessment was still underway.Authorities also blocked roads in the area and advised nearby residents to keep their doors and windows closed due to the heavy smoke.
Just hours before the nightclub fire, another fire broke out at St Martin’s Church in Stratford. Although part of the church was affected, the main structure was preserved.Police and fire officials continue to work together to determine the cause of the nightclub fire.
