At least five people injured in mass shooting last night chicagoThursday night on the South Side. The shooting occurred at the intersection of 51st Street and South Calumet Avenue, on the border of the Bronzeville and Washington Park communities.

Four victims were taken to local hospitals, with at least two in critical condition, authorities said.

Investigators have not identified the suspect or released what led up to the shooting.

Chicago mass shooting: Latest news on victims

CBS Chicago reported that two victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Two others were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the condition of the fifth victim.

Authorities said at least five people suffered gunshot wounds in the incident. Police have not released the identity or age of the victim.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene quickly and sent the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officials have not confirmed whether the victims were targeted or whether multiple gunmen were involved.

Officials expect to release more information as the investigation progresses.

The recent shootings have heightened ongoing concerns about gun violence in Chicago, as authorities continue to investigate multiple incidents involving multiple victims each year.

A user on X named Chitown Crime Chasers reported on the shooting near Washington Park and wrote: “CPD found at least 50 rifle shell casings at the scene.”

The user further reported that a group of people were standing on the street corner when a black car approached. The driver of the vehicle fired multiple shots at the group before fleeing eastbound on 51st.

The user wrote, “The shooting occurred at approximately 9:01 p.m. when police responded to reports of several shots being fired on a street corner. When they arrived, they found 4 gunshot victims and EMS Plan 1 was activated.”

However, there has been no official confirmation or statement from the Chicago Police Department that HT.com could use to verify this information.
