Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Aman Kumar, an Indian man living illegally in the United States, who was charged with a hit-and-run incident, but California authorities released him from jail. Aman Kumar was arrested in April after running over a four-year-old boy on April 28, 2026, in Fresno, California. The next day, he was arrested by the Fresno Sheriff’s Department and charged with felony hit-and-run causing death or injury. The Department of Homeland Security claimed California sanctuary politicians released the illegal convict from prison, but ICE arrested Kumar on May 13 outside Fresno County Superior Court in California.“The monster who nearly killed a 4-year-old boy was charged with a felony hit-and-run,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “California’s sanctuary politicians are releasing this criminal illegal alien from prison back onto the streets. Thanks to ICE To the brave men and women of law enforcement, this criminal illegal alien was arrested outside of criminal court. The Department of Homeland Security calls on Governor Gavin Newsom and his fellow California sanctuary politicians to stop putting American lives at risk by releasing criminals into our communities to commit more crimes and harm more innocent people.”The Department of Homeland Security claims Kumar entered the United States illegally in California in 2023 and was released by the Biden administration. The hit-and-run incident occurred at around 8pm on April 28. The four-year-old was playing on the swing set at home when he walked onto the path that cut through his yard. Several drivers stopped to avoid hitting the child, but Kumar swerved into the bike lane in an attempt to get around traffic and ended up hitting the victim. He paused briefly, then sped off. The boy was taken to hospital and is expected to survive.“ICE did what FPD could not do and returned him to jail where he now faces immigration proceedings,” ICE said.
