Alangulam constituency is located in Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu and falls under the Tirunelveli Lok Sabha. It serves the rural agricultural area centered on Alangulam town, which is dominated by rice and millets. As of March 2026, AIADMK’s PH Manoj Pandian (also known as Manoj Pandian) was the sitting MLA and he won in 2021 with 74,153 votes (36.44% votes), defeating DMK’s Poongothai (70,614 votes) by 3,539 votes for a turnout of 77.4%, which has not changed since. Major problems include irrigation shortage, poor rural road and electricity reliability, limited medical and educational facilities, youth unemployment and the need for better welfare schemes in this underdeveloped region.
