Projects exceeding this amount require approval from the Corporation Standing Committee and then final approval from the Corporation House, a statement from the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office said.This multi-layered approval mechanism often leads to avoidable delays in the execution of development work, the report said.“By increasing the financial powers of the commissioner to Rs 50 crore, the implementation process of the scheme will become simpler, faster and more effective,” the statement said.The enhanced mandate will facilitate timely execution of works related to roads, drainage, sanitation, community facilities and other essential citizen services.This will also help expedite long-pending projects, reduce procedural bottlenecks and ensure that development initiatives reach citizens without unnecessary delays, the statement added.
