president Donald Trump on Truth Social announces Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei dead. His Tehran compound came under attack following an Israeli and U.S. offensive.
An Israeli official also told Reuters they had discovered Khamenei’s body. However, Iran refuted this claim, and Fars News also reported that Trump’s claims were baseless. “It is worth noting that Trump has a long history of spreading false and fabricated news,” the report said, according to NBC News, which translated the Farsi text into English.
“One of the previous examples of this behavior was his statement about the fall of the city of Mashhad, which was later shown to have no basis in fact and was merely media sensationalism,” the report added.

While Khamenei’s condition is still awaiting confirmation, the tense situation has many fearing attacks by sleeper cells across the United States.

A sleeper cell is a terrorist organization whose members work undercover in an area until they are called into action. The concern now is that these individuals could be activated to launch attacks on U.S. soil if Khamenei is killed. To be sure, this is still just a fear for many.

Authorities have not confirmed any information or intelligence that dormant cells are active in the United States. However, they remain on high alert given the brewing global tensions.
