Update (4:18 p.m. California time): Firefighters have contained the Panoramic Fire near the Berkeley Hills in Alameda County, California. The fire burned roughly 1.5 acres before crews stopped its spread.

The fire broke out around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday along the 1000 block of Panoramic Way, above the UC Berkeley campus, the Oakland Fire Department (OFD) said.
Flames spread through hillside vegetation before reaching the roof and siding of a nearby home. More than 70 firefighters from several agencies responded to the blaze.
“Crews did a fantastic job,” OFD Chief Damon Covington told NBC Bay Area. “This had potential to take off and be a large-scale event. The multi-jurisdiction response was seamless.”
No injuries were reported, and officials did not issue evacuation orders. However, residents along Panoramic Way were asked to shelter in place temporarily.
