Her ex-husband, Darian Rawson, 48, filed for a restraining order in Florida. The order said a series of horrific events left him fearing for the safety of himself and his children, writing that Kerry “made multiple statements stating that her children were in imminent danger.”

Kerry, 48, lost custody of the two teenagers on a petition that was approved by a judge. She allegedly warned them multiple times that they would be murdered.

Charges against Carey Rosen

The petition states that on January 5 of last year, Kerry called Darian to a police station in Altamonte Springs, near where she lived, where she allegedly told him “she had superpowers and discovered that the children were in imminent danger of being murdered that morning.” The incident occurred two years after the couple, who had been married for nearly 20 years, divorced.

The document also states that Kerry warned police that “someone was going to hurt them” before calling 911 to report “shots fired and three people dead,” referring to her children and their father. However, responding officers found everyone safe.

“Rosen told the dispatcher that there were approximately three to four shooters inside the apartment and three of them were down,” the police report said. “Officers were able to [Orlando International] airport and transported her to a local hospital, where she was voluntarily admitted to an Orange County hospital. ”

The petition states that Kerry was detained under Florida’s Baker Act for a mental health evaluation.

The New York Post obtained an incident report that described Kerry as “someone whose mental health issues led him to make inaccurate and fabricated statements about events that did not actually occur.”

Following the hearing, a Florida judge issued a domestic violence protective order pending further court order. The order gives Darien temporary full custody of the couple’s two teenage children and restricts Carey from communicating electronically with them. The order also bans her from going near their home, school or having contact with their family pets.

The very next month, Darian reported to police that Kerry violated a no-contact order. He accused her of calling him multiple times last Feb. 4 and allegedly “asking for money” in a voicemail, according to the crime report.

In another voicemail, police said, Kerry “asked about the children and mentioned the existing protective order and said ‘I’m not trying to break it by calling, I just want to understand some of the things that happened in the last month.'”

Kerry also sent a Facebook message to a family member in which she was “incoherent” and “first said she had to go undercover,” the report said.

“Kerry also said, ‘I’m now being told that my baby is dead and has been dead since January 5th. [sic]. I tried to warn my family and went into PTSD mode to protect them’,” the report said.[Darien] Worry Kerri is out of touch with reality. “

Kerry has not spoken publicly about the events. However, she posted on Facebook last February that she was going through a tough time and asked for donations.

“On top of everything else, it’s been a brutal few months,” she wrote. “If you can help, please give your support below.”

The post linked to a GoFundMe, which said Kerri was hospitalized for what organizers said were long-term health issues related to the coronavirus. They said she doesn’t have stable housing because of medical expenses. The event raised nearly $9,500.

Court records obtained by the outlet show that Kerry’s landlord initiated legal proceedings that month to evict her, claiming she failed to pay rent for January and February of that year. Kerry was evicted from the property following a judge’s order in March.

After his conviction, Kerry became a best-selling author, frequent media commentator and crime conference speaker. She is known for her outspoken advocacy for victims of violent crime and domestic abuse.

“This was my past; it couldn’t be changed – Dad murdered 10 people and destroyed countless lives,” she wrote in her book “The Serial Killer’s Daughter.”

“However, when I’m no longer grappling with the hard, terrible truth, I will tell you: I loved my dad – the man I knew best. I miss him,” she wrote.

Most recently, Kerri appeared in the Netflix documentary My Father, the BTK Killer. The show will premiere in October 2025. A few months ago, she was interviewed for the Peacock documentary series Gilgo Beach: House of Secrets.

“My father lived a double life,” Kerry told the filmmakers. “He hid in plain sight for 31 years.”

Reda, 81, is currently serving 10 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

“My dad was a chameleon and if you saw him in everyday life you wouldn’t think twice about him. He made a lasting impression,” Kerri wrote in a December 2024 Facebook post. “He was also very deadly when he decided to do it. He could turn it on and off like a switch. My immediate family and I only saw flashes of light. If we had seen more than that, we would have died.”

She added, “He also had the ability to love, guide and protect. No, he couldn’t recover, his pathological lies were like his breathing. However, I also knew a good person. It wasn’t just a mirror or a show. I loved him and I missed every moment of him, even when he was still alive. It’s so complicated.”
