A man from California disappeared in an accident. Pacific Ocean It was found alive after drifting away from help for more than a month, surviving on small amounts of food, fish and even condensation collected in the sea.

Kai Sato, 39 years old, from catalina island On June 7, he went to Hawaii, but suffered a disaster two weeks later when the mast of the sailboat broke.

Isolated from the main shipping lanes, without fuel and without access to his mobile phone, Sato recalled his days filled with despair as currents swept him further into the vast ocean.

talk with hawaii Sato said, “I cried for a whole week, drifting south and in agony. I felt like I was going to try to turn on my motor and suffocate and kill myself.”

A few days later, Sato began making temporary repairs using PVC pipe and kayak paddles. He survives on leftover oatmeal, fish and squid from the boat, as well as condensation collected in barrels. “I just licked it to survive,” he said.

Kai Sato: Know how the California man was rescued

Nearly a month later, Sato drifted back into the shipping lane between California and Hawaii when the crew of the container ship Pasha Hawaii found him and rescued him after two attempts to lower a rope ladder.

Sailors twice tried to lower a rope ladder to rescue Sato, who survived for weeks on what he could find and was later given clothing and food. Gosh, yeah, like ecstatic, you know what I mean? Like I cried with joy and then they gave me fruit and water and yeah, they were so good to me, those guys,” Sato said.

He further mentioned that he currently lives in Hawaii with his family, but he plans to travel to the Philippines on a larger ship.
