ChatGPT outage resolved: OpenAI restores service after outage reported by users around the world
ChatGPT service has been restored after widespread outages affected users in several countries on Saturday, including open artificial intelligence Confirmation that affected systems are back online after several hours of outage.
Users are located in the United States, Europe, India, JapanAustralia and other regions reported difficulties accessing the AI chatbot, loading conversations and submitting tips during the outage.
OpenAI acknowledged the issue via its system status page and said it was investigating the impact Chat GPT and related services. The company later confirmed that the outage had been resolved and service was back to normal.
Thousands of people report ChatGPT access issues
The outage began around 5 a.m. ET (10 a.m. GMT) on Saturday, The Independent reported. During the outage, users reported login failures, connectivity issues, and problems retrieving previous conversations.
DownDetector, a platform that tracks service outages based on user reports, saw a sharp increase in complaints during the outage. More than 3,000 users have reported problems with the OpenAI service, with the majority of reports related to ChatGPT.

According to data from DownDetector, approximately 79% of OpenAI-related outage reports are related to ChatGPT, while others involve mobile applications and OpenAI’s coding platform Codex.
The outage also affected the OpenAI API and Codex, impacting developers and users who rely on these services.
OpenAI confirms recovery
As outage reports increase, OpenAI updated its status page to note that ChatGPT is “encountering issues” with “increased error rates.”
The company later said it had made repairs and was monitoring the recovery. “We have implemented mitigation measures and are monitoring recovery,” OpenAI said in a status update.
The company later marked its systems as operational, saying: “We are not aware of any issues affecting our systems.”
By Saturday evening, users were able to access ChatGPT normally and services in the affected areas had been restored.
