"Truth will prevail": Candace Owens laughs at Erica Kirk's tears as Taylor Robinson hearing begins in Utah
Candace Owens criticized the start of the Taylor Robinson hearing in Utah, calling it a “show trial” and questioning the prosecution’s evidence. She mocked Erica Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow, and accused her supporters of promoting an emotional narrative. Prosecutors presented DNA evidence, witness statements and video related to the 2025 killing of Charlie Kirk. Judge Tony Graff will decide whether there is enough evidence in the case to go to trial.

Candace Owens is once again stirring up controversy in the Taylor Robinson case as a major court hearing begins in Utah. When Robinson first appeared in court Charlie KirkOwens’ widow, Erika Kirk, and his parents said prosecutors relied on uncensored evidence and the proceedings were driven by emotion rather than fairness, sparking yet another round of public debate over the high-profile case.

Tyler Robinson hearing begins, Candace Owens questions evidence

Tyler Robinson had a preliminary hearing on July 6 in Utah, a major step in the criminal case in the September 2025 shooting death of political commentator Charlie Kirk. It was also the first time Robinson came face-to-face with Charlie Kirk’s family, including his widow, Erika Kirk. Before the court proceedings began, conservative commentator Candace Owens shared a lengthy post on X criticizing the legal process and the public narrative surrounding the case.“Today the Taylor Robinson show trial begins,” Candace wrote. “Evidence such as the text message confession will be allowed in court, although Taylor’s defense will not have the right to review the messages to determine whether they were tampered with or who actually sent them. Keep in mind that despite multiple discovery requests, the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were not forced to turn over key evidence because the judge ruled that it was not necessary at this stage.”Owens also raised questions about the way witness testimony was presented during the hearing.“The key witness statement of Lance Twiggs will be played, but cross-examination of Lance Twiggs will not be allowed because the judge ruled it is not necessary at this stage. Today is about emotion. You will hear the Fed’s narrative, but the defense will not have any ability to meaningfully challenge it.”Her comments quickly gained traction online, adding another layer of controversy to a case that has been under intense public scrutiny since the death of Charlie Kirk.

Tyler Robinson hearing focuses on evidence before judge makes decision

Owens continued to criticize Erika Kirk and social media figures who supported the prosecution’s case.“What you can expect (besides Erica’s tears) is her hired influencers trying to convince you that the uncensored evidence is ‘overwhelming’ and ‘undeniable.’ Sit back and watch the predictable show. The real trial will come later. Charlie’s army is growing. Ultimately, the truth will win.”Prosecutors prepared to present a wide range of evidence to Judge Tony Graf as Owens questioned the fairness of the proceedings. The hearing functions as a preliminary examination rather than a full trial, meaning prosecutors only need to establish probable cause rather than prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.According to court documents, prosecutors plan to present DNA evidence allegedly linking Robinson to the alleged murder weapon, investigators’ testimony, autopsy results, eyewitness testimony and surveillance video related to the shooting. Under Utah law, prosecutors can also rely on hearsay evidence at this stage.Judge Graf had previously rejected a defense request to limit public participation, allowing the media and the public to attend the hearing. The case stems from the Sept. 10, 2025 shooting death of Charlie Kirk during a student Q&A event at Utah Valley University in Orem. Authorities said Robinson shot the 31-year-old political activist during the event.Once both sides complete their presentations, Judge Graf will decide whether prosecutors have presented enough evidence to move the case to trial. The decision will not determine Robinson’s guilt or innocence, but will determine whether prosecutors met the legal threshold required for the next phase of criminal proceedings.
