Where is Nolan Wells? Search underway for Mississippi teen last seen on Horn Island, spotted ‘hanging out with a girl’
The authorities are looking for An 18-year-old man was last seen on Horn Island at around 3pm on Saturday, July 4. mississippiAccording to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is currently searching for Nolan Xavier Wells on Horn Island with assistance from the Department of Marine Resources, Gulf Islands National Seashore and the U.S. Coast Guard, WLOX reports.

Wells is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 180 pounds.

“Nolan was last seen on Horn Island wearing blue clothing instead of black as previously mentioned, swimming trunks, no shirt and sunglasses,” the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release shared on Facebook. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is currently searching Horn Island with assistance from the Department of Marine Resources, Gulf Islands National Seashore and the U.S. Coast Guard. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is rebuilding the command post at the Mars Lake Clipper Launch, located at 1200 Mars Boulevard in Ocean Lake Springs, MS. 39564.
“If you spoke with Nolan on Horn Island yesterday but have not yet spoken with law enforcement, please contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 228-769-3063. Any information may be key to determining Nolan’s final whereabouts,” the post added.
Gill told Nola.com that Wells was last seen “with a girl.”
Gautier Mayor Kathy Vaughn posted on Facebook, “If you were on Horn Island on July 4th, took a boat trip in the area, or believe you may have seen Nolan or even given him a ride off the island, please contact authorities immediately. Even the smallest details can have an impact. If you were on the water today or visiting Horn Island or the surrounding barrier islands , please keep an eye out for Nolan. While enjoying your time on the water, please remain observant and if you see anything that may assist the search efforts, please contact the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Marine Patrol, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department or your local law enforcement agency immediately and do not put yourself at risk or interfere with the ongoing search.”
Wells’ mother, Christine Wonsley, who has been sharing updates on Facebook, said her son was last seen around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, at the west end of the north side of Horn Island.

She wrote in a post, “This is our Nolan Wells, aka Nono. One of the sweetest, kindest souls you will ever meet. He went missing on Horn Island on July 4th. I am looking for any photos or videos taken on the northwest tip of Horn Island. Please help us find our son.”
Agencies involved in the search for Wells include the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, The Sun reported.
