Bolivar, Missouri Walmart issues stern warning over possible shooting

The city of Bolivar said in a Facebook post that authorities responded to the store after receiving a “threatening phone call” that was ultimately deemed a “battery call.”
“On Sunday, July 5 at approximately 6:53 p.m., the Bolivar Police Department, City of Bolivar Fire Department and other first responders responded to the Walmart located in the 2400 block of South Springfield Avenue for a report of a threatening call made to the 911 Polk County Central Dispatch Center. The person who called 911 made threats against businesses and personnel in the store,” the Facebook post said.
Authorities confirmed no one was injured and no shooting occurred in or near the building.
“The preliminary investigation indicates no one was injured and no shots fired inside or near the store. This appears to be an assault call. Police are conducting a secondary search of the building to confirm no one was injured. Law enforcement is also following leads to identify the person who made the original call. We will share more information as it becomes available.”
