League of Legends affected thousands of players on Thursday, June 23, with many taking to social media to complain Riot Games. As of this writing, DownDetector has recorded over 6,000 players experiencing issues in the multiplayer online battle arena video games.

Gamers appear to be experiencing a black screen with a loading icon visible. One of them wrote “What happened to League of Legends”.
Another added: “Haha when will League of Legends stop adding useless stuff to the game and start fixing the damn client.” Someone else wrote in the DownDetector comments section “Client opens, most other stuff in the client won’t load after logging in, RP and missing etc, won’t let click to play etc.”

The cause of the reported outage was not immediately clear. The Riot Games status page does not indicate that League of Legends is facing any issues. Neither the Riot Games X page nor the League of Legends page Elon MuskIts platform has issued a statement in response to consumer complaints.
Meanwhile, more complaints flooded into DownDetector, which tracks website outages, while other gamers took to X to air their displeasure.
League of Legends suspended: Players complain
“I want to play League but I have to watch my friends play Valorant,” one person wrote, while another slammed Riot Games, saying “What a pathetic company…”.
Someone else added, “Vanguard 84 is now having errors (server connection issues), loading less and less content every time it boots, and is never playable,” suggesting they are facing a new kind of problem. Most gamers complained about issues with the game launch itself.
“Hey, my affiliate clients can’t even load, half of them are missing,” a complaint from some time ago stated. Saw similar complaints on X.
one person explain “In addition to the cloud flare, idc needs to fix itself so I can play League of Legends.” Others additional “pov trying to play League of Legends with this dog meat client.” Another ask “Is the League of Legends client bugged? Mine keeps prompting me to restart the client?”.
League of Legends client down: How to fix the problem
Riot Games notes that if the League of Legends client is unresponsive, you should force close all background processes in Task Manager, run the client as administrator, or check to see if the server is down for scheduled maintenance.
Given how common this outage is, a user-side fix is unlikely to resolve the issue. There appears to be a server issue on Riot Games’ part that will require a League of Legends client outage to be resolved.
