India's Mundra port connects with Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on new Red Sea route
Mundra Port, India’s largest commercial seaport

Saudi Arabia’s Ports Authority (Mawani) has launched a new shipping service connecting the Islamic Port of Jeddah and Mundra Port in India, aiming to strengthen maritime trade links between the two countries and improve logistics efficiency.

New SRS service connects three major trading centers

The newly launched “SRS” shipping service will connect the Islamic Port of Jeddah with the Port of Mundra in India and the Port of Djibouti in East Africa. The route will have a carrying capacity of up to 2,144 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), significantly enhancing the container transportation capacity of the entire corridor.

Facilitating supply chains and Red Sea trade

Mawani said the new service is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and facilitate smoother trade flows in the Red Sea, one of the world’s busiest sea lanes. The initiative also aims to improve Saudi Arabia’s global logistics performance and support the growth of the country’s exports.

Part of wider logistics transformation plan

The move is in line with Saudi Arabia’s national transport and logistics strategy, which aims to position the kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting Asia, Africa and Europe.Officials say the addition of such services bolsters Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to become a central node on international trade routes, boosting its position in global logistics competitiveness rankings.
