New Delhi: Takes new action against Anil Ambani The ED on Tuesday said it has attached Rs 3,035 crore worth of his family properties, including an apartment in Mumbai’s Usha Kiran Building and a farmhouse in Khandala (Pune), with nearly Rs 20,000 crore attached in an ongoing money laundering case.The latest attachment has been included as part of the ED investigation Reliance Communications The agency said RCom defaulted on more than Rs 4,000 crore in bank loans, siphoning public funds. “Provisional attachment under PMLA is to prevent loss of assets and protect the interest of banks and the public,” the ED said.While Anil Ambani’s spokesperson claimed that Usha Kiran’s apartment and the farmhouse in Khandala belong to his mother Kokilaben Ambani, the ED said the apartment was registered in the name of Anil Ambani and the farmhouse in the name of Luna Trust and his son Jai Anshul Ambani. A piece of land in Sanand, Ahmedabad has also been attached in the name of Mudra Foundation for Communication Research and Education (MICA), the agency said.“Besides this, Rs 77 crore of shares of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd held by RiseE Infinity Pvt Ltd, a group entity owned by Anil Ambani, and RiseE Trust, a private family trust of members of Anil Ambani’s family, have also been seized,” the ED said.“Under Section 8 of the PMLA, the seized property is to be returned to the legitimate claimants who have suffered losses, including the aggrieved banks. Therefore, the seized property has value so that after due legal process, public funds can be legally recovered and returned to the banks and ultimately to the public,” the ED said.
