An Indian-origin man falsely accused of being a pedophile in a viral video has described the moment he decided to call the police, saying: “I wanted all the evidence recorded immediately. It went viral and sparked a backlash.Speaking of the moment tensions escalated, Singhania said he asked to see the Snapchat messages directed at him but was denied. This prompted him to immediately get involved with law enforcement.“I asked to see the Snapchat and they wouldn’t show it to me. And then, I’m pretty sure, after that I was like, okay, I need to call the police right away because I want all the evidence to be recorded. Like, I don’t feel safe right now.”He added that his first priority was to clear his name through official documents. “The bottom line is that all evidence that exonerates me and completely clears me needs to be recorded immediately. Immediately. In my opinion, the only solution for recording this evidence properly is with the police.”Singhania said he cooperated fully when police arrived and even allowed them to search his phone. He also referred to his understanding of legal rights during police interviews.Akash explained the situation: “So I thought, okay, I’m going to call the police right away, and then they came and I was like taking my phone and browsing everything, browsing everything I gave up, like any normal person would, um, if you’ve watched any type of lawyer TV Depending on the show or anything they all say, don’t say anything, don’t say anything without an attorney present, um, like you should know your rights, protect your rights, anything you can say will be used against you, anything you say will be used against you.“He added: “Yeah. I have nothing to hide.”The incident began when Vitali and his team confronted Singhania in a community in California, claiming that he had arranged to meet a minor via Snapchat. During the exchange, Singhania repeatedly denied the allegation and insisted he believed he was speaking to an 18-year-old.Live video also shows him asking the organization to verify his information. However, the accusations continued, with Vitali at one point saying, “You are one of the tech Indians, so smart,” while also claiming to involve multiple Snapchat accounts.The situation escalated until police arrived. According to Singhania, officers with the Santa Ana Police Department reviewed the matter and determined he had done nothing wrong. He later thanked police for handling the case.After facing backlash, Vitali publicly admitted his mistake and apologized. “We wrongly identified and blamed Akash Singhania. We were completely wrong and made a terrible mistake,” he said.He also urged people to delete the viral videos, adding, “My team and I screwed up, and we’re deeply sorry to Akash. Whoever owns these videos, delete them.
