'False information': Vinod Kambli's wife Andrea Hewitt hits back at health rumors

New Delhi: Videos, photos and posts about Vinod KambliNews of his deteriorating health condition was widely circulated on social media. Kambli has played 17 Test matches and 104 ODIs for India and his fitness has been in the news for some time now. He has been seen participating in various events and activities, often walking with support. However, there are also reports that the former cricketer is on the road to recovery.The issue resurfaced recently when his friend Marcus Cotto claimed Kambli had “a blood clot in his brain” that affected his memory.However, Kambli’s wife, Andrea Hewitt, dismissed the claims as false and said misinformation about his health was being spread.Andrea told India Today: “By the grace of God, Vinod is doing fine. I don’t know who is spreading false information about his health condition.”Her statement came after Cotto suggested Kambli was dealing with serious health issues.Cotto said: “Cambri has had blood clots in his brain since he was hospitalized in Sein about 18 months ago. He has a bad memory. He remembers things and then forgets them. It’s all because of the blood clots in his brain.”

“Kambli has given up drinking, but he smokes from time to time. According to Dr Aadil Chagla (a renowned neurosurgeon) who has been supervising Kambli’s treatment, smoking is completely forbidden for him as it puts him at risk of stroke,” he added.“He (Kambli) seems to be in good health. He and his family are in good spirits. Kambli now walks with a stick. His son (Cristiano) wants to become a cricketer. I requested Jatin Paranjape to admit him to the cricket academy and he immediately agreed. Of course, Jatin will not charge any fee from Kambli’s son,” he said.
