New Delhi: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh Credit has been given to the head coach Gautam GambhirUnwavering belief in his approach was a key reason for India’s victory in the T20 World Cup, and he said the former opener’s clarity and courage under pressure played a big role.Yuvraj elaborated on Gambhir’s coaching philosophy on Sports Tak, describing him as a man with a keen cricket mind. “I have played with Gautam since under-16 and under-19 and I have always felt that he has a very good cricketing brain. The way he sees the game is always noticeable,” Yuvraj said.He pointed to Gambhir’s credentials as a player and mentor and recalled his winning goals in two World Cup finals. “He performed at the highest level and was instrumental in winning two World Cups. Then as a mentor to Kolkata Knight Riders, he won the title again. He must have done something right,” Yuvraj added.“Sticking to his process led to World Cup victory”Yuvraj highlighted that Gambhir’s biggest strength is his ability to stick to his game plan despite criticism. “When you become an India coach, there are so many eyes on you. A mistake is shown 100 times, a success is shown 1,000 times,” he said.Talking about the criticism Gambhir faced after India’s Test setback, Yuvraj pointed out: “He went through that phase but stayed true to his process. That’s why India won the World Cup. Now he is back on top – there are always ups and downs in cricket.”Yuvraj said Gambhir’s aggressive blueprint instilled fear in opponents. “He was clear – even if we lose, we have to play this kind of cricket. We’re after you from the first pitch. If a bat is to be batted, a player like Abhishek or Sanju will bat from the first ball,” he explained.India’s bowling depth also played a crucial role, Jasprit Bumrah Lead the attack. “Whenever India is in trouble, they have Bumrah coming to their rescue and Hardik and Ashdeep also supporting him,” Yuvraj said.He further emphasized the balance of the team, pointing out that quality spinners like Kuldeep Yadav were even on the bench.“Despite the defeat, Gambhir stuck to his process, which rewarded him with a T20 World Cup,” Yuvraj concluded.
