'You're not welcome': Laura Loomer sparks controversy by saying she wants to visit India again after Marco Rubio's visit

Far-right US political activist Laura Loomer sparks row after saying she wants to return to India with US secretary of state Marco RubioRecently visited the country.Loomer sparked backlash after posting on X: “Seeing all the photos of Marco Rubio in India makes me want to go back to India! She added: “I love India. Such a beautiful country. It was great that our Secretary of State and his supermodel wife were able to visit India and meet many of the same people I met there.“She shared the post along with a picture of herself wearing Indian attire. Some users revisited Loomer’s earlier controversial comments about Native Americans and immigrants. She has been accused of trying to soften her image after making racist remarks and offensive remarks against Indians.Loomer traveled to India in March, and her visit drew attention because of old social media posts she made criticizing Indians and attacking Indian people. H-1B visa program. Reporters confronted her about these remarks during appearances and media interactions in India. She later apologized for some of the posts but continued to oppose the H-1B visa system, arguing that it allowed U.S. companies to hire foreign workers at lower wages, which she claimed affected U.S. jobs.Despite the controversy, Loomer praised India after spending nine days in the country. She described India as “incredible” and said it could become “the next superpower”.Her remarks came days after Rubio completed his first official visit to India as U.S. secretary of state. During the visit, Rubio held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi. The discussions focused on trade, defence, energy cooperation and Indo-Pacific security, with the two sides also discussing strengthening Quad relations and expanding bilateral economic cooperation amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and tariff disputes.Rubio also visited Kolkata, Agra and Jaipur during his trip and reportedly conveyed US President Donald Trump’s White House invitation to Prime Minister Modi.
