Governor activates red alert

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus confirmed the unrest shortly after the operation began, explaining that criminal gangs responded by burning vehicles and blocking highways in the southern region and the metropolitan area.

“A few hours ago, federal troops carried out an operation in Tapalpa, which led to clashes in the area. Likewise, as a result of this operation, vehicles were burned and blocked in several locations in the area and elsewhere in Jalisco, with the aim of hindering the actions of the authorities,” he wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.

“I have directed the immediate establishment of a security coordination table with the three levels of government authorities and the activation of code red to prevent acts against the people,” he added.

Where blockades and attacks break out

Reports of cartel blockades grew rapidly. In the Guadalajara metropolitan area, vehicles were set on fire to stop traffic on Avenida 16 de Septiembre, La Paz, Periférico and Calzada Independencia.

Meanwhile, similar strategies have been adopted in southern cities including Tecolotlán, Tapalpa, Ojo de Agua, Linda Vista, Ayutla, Talpa, Melaque Junction, El Tuito and the highway to Morelia.

The riots even spread to tourist centers. In Puerto Vallarta, a downtown bus was set on fire, a motorcycle chase was reported, and a shootout broke out in Ixtapa.

Federal Raid on Tapalpa

The violence is directly linked to federal operations in Tapalpa, a popular mountain destination in southern Jalisco state, according to state officials. Authorities have not released details of the mission, but the governor noted in his message that the federal deployment prompted the cartel to respond.

The state’s security cabinet issued its own statement, saying it was coordinating with state forces to control the situation.

Links to other arrests

Hours before the attack in Tapalpa, federal authorities detained Alma Rosa “N” (aka “La Leona”) in the city of Tala. She is believed to be a CJNG recruiter, allegedly linked to “El Lastra” and has been linked to the Rancho Izaguirre case. Her arrest is suspected to be one of several factors fueling tensions in the region.

Who is “John Barron” from Virginia calling CSPAN to complain, Trump-style, about the Supreme Court’s tariff decision? “This can’t be true”

Who is

After the Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s tariffs, a caller claiming to be John Barron from Virginia went viral in an interview with CSPAN as the internet was impressed with his near-perfect impersonation of President Donald Trump. In the 1980s and 1990s, Trump used the alias John Barron to spin stories to reporters, and the Internet had fun listening to the “John Barron” who was angry about the Supreme Court ruling. Shortly after the Supreme Court’s ruling, CSPAN opened its phone lines, inviting callers to weigh in on the major blow from Trump’s tariffs. “John from Virginia, Republican, let’s hear your opinion,” CSPAN host Greta Brawner said before Barron began speaking. When he started speaking, people were in disbelief because his voice matched the president’s almost perfectly. “I’m John Barron,” the caller said. “Look, this is literally the worst decision you’ve ever made in your life. Jack would agree with me, right? But it’s a bad decision. You’ve got Hakeem Jeffries, who – he’s a fool! And you’ve got Chuck Schumer, who can’t make a cheeseburger. Of course those guys Be happy! Of course these people are happy, but real Americans are not happy. And the woman before you – I guess she was a woman, she was a Democrat – but she was… shocked by it,” John Barron said, not missing anything about President Trump’s behavior.“This may not be Trump, but the fact that we can’t completely rule it out says a lot,” anti-Trump Republicans posted. “Next up is Don from Queens,” one user quipped. Polymarket chimed in: “The odds of the Supreme Court forcing John Barron to refund tariffs are 18%,” but stopped short of making its latest betting predictions. Another wrote: “This can’t be true.” “If this is true, this is pretty surreal. A former president allegedly calling C-SPAN under the old John Barron alias and calling Hakeem Jeffries a fool sounds more like political satire than real life. The fact that John Barron is a well-known pseudonym associated with Donald Trump makes things even more bizarre. American politics will never be short of plot twists,” one user added.
