US President Donald Trump declared “peace through strength” on Monday, calling it “moderate” as he ended his 48-hour ultimatum to Iran after the Tehran regime threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if Washington’s partnership with Tel Aviv continued to escalate actions against the Islamic Republic.Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Peace through strength, to put it mildly!!!”Earlier in the day, an IRGC official mocked Donald Trump’s ultimatum, saying simply: “Trump, you’re fired!”“Hey Trump, you’re fired. You’re familiar with this line. Thank you for bringing this to your attention,” the spokesperson added, his sharp jab echoing Trump’s signature line from his time as host of “The Apprentice.” The closing words, “Thank you for your attention,” also seemed to mimic Trump’s tone in his social media posts.Earlier, Donald Trump warned that the United States would “strike and destroy” Iran’s power plants if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, a move that would directly target critical civilian infrastructure. Iran also responded with sweeping threats. Military spokesman Ibrahim Zolfakari said Tehran would retaliate against U.S.-linked assets in the Gulf if Iran’s energy networks were attacked. “If Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure is attacked by an enemy, in line with previous warnings, all energy infrastructure belonging to the United States and regimes in the region, as well as information technology… and desalination facilities will be targeted,” he said.
