Interstate 4 eastbound in Seminole County was reportedly closed near mile marker 102 in Sanford due to heavy police activity involving possible explosives in a truck News 6. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

According to witnesses, many roads in the area have been closed and law enforcement officers are actively rushing to the scene. Florida 511 reports that Interstate 4 East is blocked near Old Seminole Town Center.

Traffic cameras showed the Florida Highway Patrol and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office both responding.

Seminole County wrote on the

Sanford Police added, “Due to a Florida Highway Patrol incident on Interstate 4 (I-4), Sanford drivers should expect heavy traffic on I-4 and SR 46 and roads near I-4 and HE Thomas Pkwy. Other areas such as Monroe Road and West Seminole Avenue are also affected. Please drive with caution and use alternate routes when possible. Traffic will resume normal flow once the Florida Highway Patrol has concluded the incident.”

in an email Fox 35Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) spokesperson Lt. Tara Crescenzi said the FHP was “notified of the possible presence of explosives on the truck.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, we are requesting resources from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office to clear the vehicle. Barricades are in place in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 and on ramps in the area,” she told the outlet.
