period Good Shepherd New York April 5 Digital Easter Party, Savannah said somethingAbout how this period affected her faith.

“Today we celebrate the promise of new life that never ends in death. But standing here today, I must tell you that there are moments when that promise seems so far away and life itself seems so much more difficult than death,” she said.

“These moments of deep disappointment with God, a sense of complete abandonment. For most of us, there are moments in our lives where these feelings take over.”

She shared how the uncertainty surrounding her mother’s disappearance left her with deep questions. “During my season of trial, I wondered, I questioned, whether Jesus had actually experienced this particular wound that I felt, this deep and uniquely cruel hurt caused by not knowing, being unsure, being confused, and withholding answers,” she said.

“In those darkest moments, I thought painfully and perhaps irreverently that I had stumbled upon a feeling that Jesus didn’t know,” she continued, adding, “There is nothing wrong with the idea that we can challenge our God with questions.”

Savannah then recalled a moment in the Bible, saying that when Jesus was crucified, “He cried out, ‘My God, my God. Why have you forsaken me?'” It was the anguished cry of a man who didn’t know the answer. “

After thinking for a moment, she said, “Maybe he does know how it feels.”

She ended her message by saying, “I still believe it,” she added. “It’s the darkness that makes this morning’s light so magnificent, so beautiful. It’s all the brighter because it’s so desperately needed.”
