The vice president and creative head of Netflix’s visual effects division Eyeline Studios revealed his drug use during a “vulnerable trust exercise” held at Netflix’s Sendero Ranch in the North california.

This activity allowed participants to discuss their personal experiences and was designed to strengthen relationships between colleagues.

According to The Daily Beast, during the January 2026 retreat, Bailey revealed that he received general anesthesia to treat his clinical depression following the death of his mother.

During the retreat, he said he used the drug under medical supervision in October and November 2022.

Baillie was fired in April 2026 NetflixHe reportedly earns about $1.1 million per year.

The company’s legal representative confirmed that ketamine treatment issues played a role in the termination, noting that the 48-year-old executive received no severance package.

Kevin Bailey sues Netflix

Bailey has filed legal action against the media and entertainment company, claiming he is under investigation for alleged profanity, drinking and comments he made during the retreat, The Daily Beast reported.

According to the current lawsuit, an investigation into his comments began shortly after the retreat, ultimately leading to his firing.

The lawsuit also highlights Netflix’s permissive workplace culture, which Bailey claims was later exploited against him.

The filmmaker points out that drinking is common at company parties. Eyeline Studios CEO Jeff Shapiro even set up a private bar in his office where Bailey could grab a drink after a “successful” meeting with Shapiro and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

What is Kevin Bailey asking for?

Bailey is seeking compensatory damages, lost wages, emotional distress, punitive damages and a jury trial, the New York Post reported.

Baillee has an extensive background, having contributed to famous films and TV series including “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Harry Potter.” His LinkedIn profile outlines his career history, highlighting his connections to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Visual Effects Society.
