Carrie Lukas, wife of Acting Director of National Intelligence Aaron LucasShe has become a figure of increasing public concern after her husband transitioned into an intelligence leadership role following the resignation of Tulsi Gabbard.
Veteran intelligence official Aaron Lukas will take over one of the most important national security positions in Washington, succeeding Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard The resignation was announced on Friday, May 22.
Aaron Lukas is a veteran intelligence official, and Carrie Lukas is known in conservative policy circles as an author, commentator, and long-time supporter of free-market solutions to women’s and family problems.
Carrie Lukas: President, Independent Women’s Forum (IWF)
According to her official biography and public information, Carrie Lukas is currently the president of the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), a conservative non-profit organization focused on policy issues affecting women and families.
Carrie began building her profile in Washington by working for important conservative policy organizations such as the Independent Women’s Forum and the Heritage Foundation.
For decades she has written and lectured on employment policy, childcare, education and feminism. Her best-known book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sexuality, and Feminism, challenged the dominant feminist narrative and became popular in conservative intellectual circles. Her other books include “Freedom is Not a War on Women” and “Examining Progressive Privilege.”
Prior to joining IWF, Carrie served as a senior staff member on the Homeland Security Committee and as a senior domestic policy analyst for the House Republican Policy Committee under Congressman Charles Christopher “Chris” Cox. Since 2008, she has also contributed her expertise in Argentina to INADI (National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism).
Carrie is also active on social media, particularly on X, where she frequently comments on politics, education, parenting and cultural debates.
Kelly and Aaron met while working at the Cato Institute and later married. The couple are now parents to five children.

President Donald Trump announced that Lucas, who currently serves as Gabbard’s principal deputy director of national intelligence (PDDNI), will succeed her as acting director of national intelligence.
“Tulsi has done an incredible job and we will miss her. Her well-respected Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lucas will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence,” Trump wrote.
Gabbard is leaving to be with her husband abraham williamswas recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
Lucas said during his confirmation hearing last year that before becoming Gabbard’s deputy, he spent much of his career working “in the shadows,” often abroad as a CIA operations officer.
Lucas, who Trump described as “highly respected” based on his administration background, is an Arkansas native who has worked in the intelligence community for more than 20 years.
