Grandson of legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, 26 Joseph Savarinoarrested diffusion weighted imaging A 15-year-old teen was allegedly hit and killed with his vehicle on Saturday night. Savarino is believed to have attacked the teen while the boy was riding his e-bike around 9 p.m. in Durham, North Carolina, WRAL reported.
The victim’s mother identified him as Jack O’Shea in an emotional Facebook post. He died on the spot.
The incident occurred as Savarino was driving north on Cormier Road. When he took a breathalyzer test around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, his blood-alcohol level was 0.11, according to public records reviewed by WRAL. He later admitted to police that he had been drinking earlier in the night.
The grandson of the famed college basketball coach now faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, according to online records reviewed by The New York Post. The investigation is ongoing.

Savarino was booked into the Durham County Detention Center. He was released on Monday after posting $100,000 bail and has been handed over to his license At least 30 days. He is scheduled to return to court in a month, TMZ reports.

Jack’s mother, Allison Bickel O’Shea, wrote a heartbreaking Facebook post describing the teen as “perfect, smart, athletic, fearless and handsome.” She confirmed the teen died on April 18.
“We found solace in his last perfect day. He woke up and asked to go to confession at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. He then played two baseball games with his high school team, where he did what he always did – give it his all and excel at first base. Later, he went on his usual afternoon bike ride with his friends. When he returned to our community, he was in an accident and was hit by a car. Jesus immediately took him away,” Allison wrote.
She added: “We will never understand why his time here was so short, or why he was needed so soon, but we must keep the faith and believe that he is now our angel. We are better people because of him and we will carry him with us forever. The depth of this grief is beyond our imagination. This is a club that no parent wants to join.”

Alison thanked her loved ones for their support but admitted she didn’t know “how to carry on”.
“Jack’s love for hiking, maps and adventure is inspiring. He sees the world with curiosity and courage, always ready for what’s next,” she added. “There is so much more to share about who Jack was – a boy beyond his years with a faith that was genuine and entirely his own.”
