Who is Jack Long? 5 things you need to know about the far-right activist at the center of the Gracie Mansion bomb threat

On Saturday, Long was among a group of far-right activists protesting against the so-called “Islamization of New York City,” local news outlet Island News reported. Three of them, three of them, had explosive devices thrown at them during the protest. Amir Barat, Ibrahim Qayoumi and Ian McGuinness.

Mamdani has since lashed out at the protesters, calling them “white supremacists” even as he condemned the throwing of explosives at them. Long and some other far-right influencers later slammed Mamdani for allegedly shielding the suspect.

“Yesterday, white supremacist Jack Long organized a protest outside Gracie Towers that was rooted in bigotry and racism,” Mamdani wrote. “There is no place for this kind of hate in New York City.”

1. Jake Lang was a key figure in the January 6 riots

Jake Lang, a self-proclaimed “January 6 rioter” who gained notoriety for his role in the 2021 Capitol riots, has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

2. Pardoned by President Trump

On January 20, 2025, the first day of Trump’s second term, Trump pardoned Jack Long as part of a blanket clemency for nearly 1,600 defendants in the January 6 Capitol riot.

3. Participate in counter-protests in Minnesota

On January 17, Long organized a pro-ICE rally in Minneapolis amid Trump’s crackdown on immigration. A small group of about 10 people joined him in an anti-Islam, anti-Somali demonstration at Minneapolis City Hall. Clashes broke out with anti-ICE protesters.

4. Famous far-right figures

Since Lange was pardoned, he has become a well-known figure in far-right circles, organizing pro-ICE rallies and fundraisers for the Jan. 6 defendants.

5. Florida Senate race

Jake Lang announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate in Florida in March 2025, targeting the seat being vacated by Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. He filed with the Federal Election Commission in February as a Republican.
