Who is Jordan Jones? Former college football star shot to death outside Georgia bar; friends remember him fondly

Former college football star Jordan Jones was shot and killed outside a bar in Acworth, Georgia, last weekend. According to TMZ, Jones was working as a security guard at the Saddle Bar when the fight broke out early Saturday morning.

When Jones tried to break up the fight, the suspect, 25-year-old Daniel Di Vonne Parsons, pulled a gun and shot him. Officers from the Acworth Police Department responded to the scene and found Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Keniston Hospital where he later died.

Parsons arrested and charged with felony murderaggravated assault and aggravated battery.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation and no further details are available at this time,” APD said.

Who is Jordan Jones?

A native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Jordan Jones played and coached at Mountain View High School before going to the University of West Alabama, where he totaled 211 tackles, 17 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception.

He later played professionally in the Indoor Football League (IFL) with the Tulsa Oilers and San Antonio Gunners. He will join the Michigan Arsenal of the Arena Football League this season. The IFL released a statement describing him as a “talented player and respected competitor”.

The IFL said: “The Indoor Football League mourns the tragic passing of former All-IFL linebacker Jordan Jones. Jordan was a talented player and respected competitor who left a lasting mark on the league and those who were fortunate enough to know him. Our condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends and teammates.”

Friends remember Jordan Jones as ‘gentle giant’

Friends described Jones as a “big brother” who always looked out for others.

“It feels like a nightmare that I’m just waiting to wake up from,” Jalen Virgil, one of Jones’ longtime friends, told reporters. Fox 5 Atlanta.

Another friend and former teammate Dijon Joseph added: “He always brought everyone into it. He was that big brother figure who always put his arm around you.”
