Nolan Wells’s Mother Christine Wonsley is currently laying the legal groundwork for a possible lawsuit over her son’s death. She has asked a Mississippi court to put her in charge of his estate, TMZ reports.

New legal documents obtained by the outlet show that Wansley filed a petition on Monday to open her son’s estate and appoint her as administrator, noting that the estate’s assets would “include only damages arising out of the circumstances of his death.” If someone is eventually legally found in connection with her son’s death, Wansley will have the right to sue on behalf of her son’s estate.

Wansley signed the petition in Jackson County Chancery Court on the day of Wells’ funeral. According to the documents, the teen had no will, never married and had no children, making his mother his sole heir.

Wansley has repeatedly asked that any public demonstrations in her son’s name remain peaceful, AOL reported. She stressed that Nolan “would never want violence of any kind.”

Wansley is desperately seeking the public’s help to find out what happened to their son. She wrote in a recent social media post: “Elmore Wansley and I are urgently asking that if you have any information, videos and photos of our son Nolan Wells from July 4th, please contact local authorities at 228-769-3063 and also my legal team at 1-800-691-7111. We need to know what happened to our child. Please contact both men with any information!!”

Two investigations are ongoing. On Monday, July 13, Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter told ABC News that his department was still working. Meanwhile, Crump’s team is conducting a private investigation, including a second autopsy.
