A stressed-out war veteran brutally murdered his seven children and one of their cousins in the United States. Louisiana On Sunday, he was scheduled to face his estranged wife in divorce court on Monday.

Shamar Elkins, 31, contacted his mother, Mahelia Elkins, and stepfather, Marcus Jackson, on Easter Sunday to tell them that his wife of two years, Shanequa Pughhas filed for divorce. He even expressed a desire to commit suicide, revealing that he was suffering from “dark thoughts,” according to the New York Times.
Jackson recalled telling his troubled stepson that if he remained resilient, he could overcome his difficulties.

Elkins then shot eight children execution-style on Sunday morning. He also aimed the gun at Pugh, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen, and at a woman believed to be his girlfriend, Christina Snow, who was shot in the head. According to KSLA, King identified Snow as his girlfriend.
Pugh was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials reported. Snow was also seriously injured.
The perpetrator’s wife, Shaneiqua Pugh, a mother of four, is scheduled to appear in court with her husband on Monday as part of ongoing divorce proceedings.
The other woman injured was Christina Snow, said to be the mother of Elgin’s three other children.

According to Sariahh’s social media profiles, Sariahh’s mother was once married to the gunman.
The mother, who goes by the name Christina Luvynhymdearly Snow on Facebook, posted multiple photos of her marriage to Shamar on social media in 2015 and 2016, showing a tumultuous relationship.
In 2013, Christina welcomed Sariahh into the world, as she noted in a Facebook post on Sariahh’s second birthday.
While the photos exude happiness, other posts on Facebook reveal Christina’s concerns for Sharma. In a December 2016 post, she said: “Wish I’d never met you Shamar Elkins,” tagging him in the message.
On New Year’s Eve 2015, Christina shared what it was like to be loved by Shama. However, the next day she complained of feeling hurt because he allegedly stopped her from moving on.
It’s unclear when the couple separated or whether Christina was the mother of the other children who were killed.
