Which U.S. states are under severe thunderstorms today? Latest observations and warnings
Severe thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of the Northeastern United States on Saturday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing multiple severe thunderstorm warnings as forecasters warn of damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall and the possibility of isolated tornadoes.

The alert covers Pennsylvania, Ohio and New YorkNeighboring southern Ontario, Canada, is also under a severe thunderstorm warning.
pennsylvania
A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for 33 counties in central Pennsylvania until 9 p.m. ET, according to the National Weather Service.
Observations include Adams, Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lycoming, Mifflin, Northumberland, Perry, Schuylkill, Snyder, Somerset, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, Warren and York.
Major cities under surveillance include Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Gettysburg, State College, Altoona, Johnstown, Hershey and Williamsport.
Ohio
The National Weather Service has also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Northeast Ohio through 9 p.m. Saturday.
Affected counties include Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark, Lorain, Lake, Medina, Portage, Mahoning, Trumbull, Ashtabula, Erie, Richland and Wayne counties.
According to WKYC’s 3News weather team, a strong cold front is expected to trigger storms between 3 and 8 p.m. Forecasters warned the storm could produce damaging wind gusts, large hail, heavy rain, frequent lightning and the risk of an isolated tornado.
New York
In New York, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of western New York state and the Finger Lakes until 9 p.m.
The alert covers Allegheny, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

Across the border, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a yellow severe thunderstorm warning for Mississauga, with storms expected across much of southern Ontario in the afternoon.
City of Mississauga warns storm Damaging wind gusts are possible, heavy rain and large hail, while local environmental authorities have issued a flood outlook warning as heavy rainfall could cause localized flooding and rising water levels.
Residents are advised to stay away from rivers, streams and other waterways, avoid driving through flooded roads, secure loose outdoor items and prepare for possible power outages.
