Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “There should be a big ‘Make America Great Again’ rally with 250 people in attendance instead of singers who are overpriced and no one wants to listen to their music and their music is boring but they do nothing but complain.”

He added, “Canceling it, just like I’m canceling my involvement in things that are failing and unsafe kennedy center“.

The Great American State Fair is scheduled to be held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from June 25 to July 10.

However, the event was overshadowed by the withdrawal of multiple performers, who claimed they were either misled about the political nature of the gathering or were uncomfortable with its growing ties to Trump and the MAGA movement.

Artist quits as political controversy intensifies

Several high-profile artists, including Martina McBride, The Commodores, Young MC, Morris Day & The Time and Poison frontman Bret Michaels, have publicly distanced themselves from the concert series in recent days.

McBride said on social media that she had been invited to perform at a nonpartisan event but later discovered that characterization was inaccurate.

“The artists were never informed of any political involvement with the event,” Young MC wrote in a Facebook post. Although organizers claimed the event was nonpartisan, SPIN magazine described it as “Trump-supportive.”

Michaels similarly said the event had morphed into something “more divisive” than the one he initially agreed to support.

As the number of canceled shows mounted, Trump lashed out at the departing performers on Truth Social, calling some of them “overpriced singers” and “third-rate artists.” He suggested canceling the concerts entirely and replacing them with large MAGA rallies, where he would speak. Trump also claimed he drew “a bigger audience than Elvis” and could be the main attraction of the event.

Many scoffed at Trump’s public lashing out; wrote“,” Trump’s “America 250” concert was supposed to be America’s birthday party, but he was furious because no one wanted to perform for him, so he wanted the concert canceled so he could hold another hate rally in Washington.

Many users on X supported the artist who pulled out of the concert. One user wrote, “Freedom 250 is about Trump himself. They were misled by the contract into thinking it was America 250, a nonpartisan celebration of Congress. Freedom 250 is all about Trump’s ego, because now he says he’s just going to have a big speech.”
