Where to rest during the Juneteenth holiday? Banks, post offices, government offices and stock markets are closed for the federal holiday
JuneteenthJuneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the end of slavery and is celebrated nationwide.
Juneteenth becomes federal holiday in 2021, following former President Joe Biden Sign legislation recognizing Juneteenth as a national day of remembrance. The holiday commemorates June 19, 1865, when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved African Americans that they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Americans mark the occasion with parades, cultural events and community celebrations. Many people ask which businesses and services are closed during the holidays.
