A small brush fire broke out on Esplanade Friday afternoon. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control as smoke billowed from parts of North County.
Authorities confirmed that at its most severe, the fire spread to about 10 to 15 acres and temporarily threatened nearby buildings. However, rescuers were able to stop the fire from spreading further in about 45 minutes.

Boulevard Fire Locations, Maps and Spread
The Boulevard Fire is concentrated in an area of dry brush near a major intersection in the U.S. coastal city of Oceanside. san diego county.
The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. near Oceanside Boulevard and Rancho del Oro Drive, near the SoCal Sports Complex and Race Club, NBC News reported.

Aerial footage later shared by SkyRanger7 showed firefighters were able to contain the blaze at the charred site, with smoke reducing significantly by evening as crews worked in hot spots.
According to NBC 7 meteorologist Greg Bledsoe, the fire started in light winds in the 10 to 15 mph range, which may have helped firefighters successfully control the blaze.
Evacuation, response and current situation
Watch Duty reported there were some verbal evacuations, but neither the San Diego County Emergency Warning System nor Genasys Evacuation Services reported any formal evacuations.
The El Corazon Senior Center on Rancho Del Oro Road and neighboring communities have been placed under a shelter-in-place order, Fox News reported.
Road closures were closed in the surrounding area while firefighters tried to control the blaze, according to a news release from the Oceanside Fire Department.
