Savannah Guthrie off the air for ‘the foreseeable future’
Guthrie, 54, remains in Tucson as the search for her 84-year-old mother enters its third week, Page Six reported.
“The entire show and network are united in supporting our beloved colleagues and friends as we navigate this unimaginable time,” a network insider told the outlet.
Another source said the team’s focus is on supporting her rather than discussing professional matters, adding that everyone is taking things “day by day” while giving her the time and space she needs.
Rumors about her future in “Today”
Guthrie has served as co-host of NBC’s morning show since July 2012. Page Six reports that her contract, reportedly worth about $7 million per year, is up for renewal.
However, industry insiders say speculation about her career is “harmful” given the current circumstances.
Who fills in on the show?
According to reports, former co-host Hoda Kotb is expected to return to the anchor role this week. Both Kotb and current co-host Craig Melvin are reportedly staying in the United States rather than traveling to Milan to assist with Winter Olympics coverage.
NBC has not publicly announced a timetable for Guthrie’s return.
What happened to Nancy Guthrie?
Nancy was last seen on January 31, when she was dropped off at her Tucson home after having dinner with her family. When she failed to attend church the next morning, police were alerted.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos admitted the search could take “years.”
Savannah and her siblings have publicly pleaded for their mother’s safe return, sharing images released by investigators and urging anyone with information to come forward.
