Robert Mueller vs Trump

Mueller documented Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. election and its contacts with Donald Trump’s campaign. However, he did not bring criminal charges against the president.

Mueller retired in 2013 after 12 years as FBI director, but four years later, after Trump fired then-FBI Director James Comey, Mueller was recalled by senior Justice Department officials to serve as special counsel to take over the investigation into Russian election interference.

Mueller’s 22-month investigation resulted in indictments of 34 people, including several Trump associates as well as Russian intelligence officials and three Russian companies, and a series of guilty pleas and convictions. Mueller ultimately did not bring criminal charges against the Republican president, deeply disappointing many Democrats.
