The much-anticipated primaries for the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate are underway across the state. Texas The 2026 midterm elections officially begin on Monday. Voters are lining up at polling stations across the state to cast their ballots.

Republicans are voting United States Senate seatIncumbent Sen. John Cornyn faces strong challenges from Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunter. Meanwhile, Democrats are going to the polls to elect a House representative, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who is locked in a tight, high-spending race against state Rep. James Talarico.

Here’s everything you need to know about when it’s time to vote today.

When does Texas primary voting end?

Texas primary polling places will be open to voters until 8 p.m. Eastern Time (or 7 p.m. Central Texas Time). In the western parts of the state, such as El Paso, Hudspeth and Culbertson in the Mountain Time zone, they are open until 9 p.m. (8 p.m. Eastern time (8 p.m. Central time))

However, even after polls close, those in line by 7pm Central Time (and 8pm Central Time in El Paso) will still be allowed to vote.

When will the Texas primary results be out?

Most counties announce early and mail-in ballots first, usually within minutes of CT closing at 7 p.m. Larger districts like Harris and Dallas are expected to follow. The results will be clear by 10pm Central Time.
