West Sacramento fire update: Lake Fire reported across Lowe’s in Lake Washington Boulevard area; scary visuals emerge
A fire reportedly broke out in West Sacramento, Californiaon Thursday, August 13. As per a local media report, the blaze was across Lowe’s, located at 2250 Lake Washington Boulevard.
A cause for the fire is not known and there are no reports on injuries yet. The West Sacramento Fire Department is yet to issue a statement on the situation.
Meanwhile, scary visuals of the fire were shared online.
A bright glow and heavy smoke could be seen from a distance. “Huge fire across from Lowe’s, numerous trucks on location. Heavy smoke throughout West Sac,” the local page noted.
West Sacramento fire reports: More details emerge
The local page, which reports on West Sacramento events noted that Clarksburg fire is also on scene to help. It further noted the fire had been upgraded to a 2nd alarm fire, adding that it meant ‘west sac fire doesn’t have enough rigs or man power to contain it so they are calling agencies around to help.’

The page added that authorities were beginning to shut down ‘Southport parkway and industrial due to the fire getting close to the roads’ after the fire ‘jumped the road’ and was on the other side of the field, close to the port.
West Sacramento fire reports: Locals express fear
Some locals reacted to the reports of the fire in West Sacramento. One said “I saw this fire close to 6 on my way home and saw fire trucks across from Nugget, I thought maybe it was a control burn.”
Another asked if this meant that the fire had been burning since 6pm. However, there’s no confirmation of the same. Yet another person put out a message for the responders, writing “God bless our firefighters.”
One fearfully asked “Should we be getting things ready to evacuate? Over by bridgeway island school,” while another checked if there were any updates. However, given the time of the night, there aren’t many updates on the situation.
Lake Fire in West Sacramento
While it remains unclear if this blaze is the same as the Lake Fire in West Sacramento, a vegetation fire was also reported in the area of Thorp Road & Lake Washington Boulevard, in Yolo County. WatchDuty noted that the fire was at 0.5 acres at the time of writing.
It also reported “Southport Parkway is shut down between Ramco Street and Lake Washington Boulevard,” corresponding with the local page’s report on road closures.
“A 2nd alarm vegetation fire response has been requested. Additionally, law enforcement has been requested for traffic control along Southport Parkway,” the site that tracks live fire outages, further reported, also corresponding with what the local page said about the West Sacramento situation.
