West Bengal polls: PM Modi vows to release ‘white paper’ on TMC corruption allegations

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi The BJP campaign intensified in West Bengal on Saturday, focusing on issues such as infiltration, citizenship and alleged corruption. Trinamool Congress (TMC) Govt.Addressing a public rally in Katwa in Purba Bardhaman district, Prime Minister Modi promised to expedite the process of granting citizenship to eligible refugee families under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) if the BJP comes to power in the state.Prime Minister Modi addressed a total of three rallies in the poll-bound states. He held poll rallies in Katwa, Janjpur and Murshidabad. Addressing another rally in Janjipur, PM Modi said: “From Sandesh Khali to RG Kar, this (TMC) cruel government stands up to protect rapists. Bangladesh has not forgotten this. The age of fear will end. “He specifically reached out to the Matua and Namasudra communities, which form an important electoral base in several districts of South Bengal.“I want to tell the Matua and Namasudra refugee families that they are protected by the country’s constitution. Modi has enacted the CAA law so that Matua, Namasudra and all refugees can get citizenship,” the Prime Minister said.He further added that the BJP government will expedite the citizenship process for all eligible applicants under the CAA.“After the formation of the BJP government, the process of granting citizenship to all eligible applicants under the CAA will be expedited,” he said.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stepped up his crackdown on allegations of illegal immigration, saying “infiltrators” would have to leave the state if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power.“Infiltrators should start packing; it’s time to leave. Those who helped the infiltrators will not be spared,” he said.The Prime Minister also launched a sharp attack on the ruling TMC, saying its 15-year rule had created an atmosphere of fear in the state.“The 15-year rule of the TMC has brought nothing but fear to every citizen and every family in Bengal,” he said.He added that the upcoming elections were aimed at removing this atmosphere and bringing about what he called a “fear-free Bengal”.“This election is to allay the fears of the TMC. Such changes will be the first step towards building a developed Bengal.”Prime Minister Modi also stepped up his accusations of corruption against the TMC and promised strict action if the BJP came to power.He said the BJP government would issue a “white paper” detailing the alleged corruption under the current regime and ensure accountability.“BJP will submit a white paper to ensure legal accounting of corruption involving TMC MLAs, ministers and syndicates,” he said.During the rally, PM Modi also shared a video clip in which he claimed that the public turnout was high. He said a huge crowd even gathered on the helipad before his show started.He also accused the TMC of spreading misinformation about the BJP’s schemes and said his party would not stop welfare benefits but would eliminate corruption and middlemen in its implementation.“BJP will not stop anything. BJP will only shut down corruption factories,” he said.In a bid to woo women voters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a monthly financial support package.“BJP has announced Rs 3,000 per month for women,” he said, adding that the party was committed to strengthening welfare provision.He also claimed that public support for the BJP is growing in West Bengal and the high level of participation and enthusiasm among voters, especially women voters, is an indication of the strong support the party enjoys.The rallies come ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4.Addressing another rally in Murshidabad, PM Modi said that his party was working on implementing UCC in West Bengal. “National security is of paramount importance to us. The BJP is determined to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Bengal and end the politics of appeasement once and for all,” he said. In the 2021 elections, the TMC returned to power with an absolute majority, while the BJP emerged as the main opposition with 77 seats.
