The Surya Kiran aerobatic team of the Indian Air Force conducted an aerial exercise during the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav exercise at Somnath Temple on Monday.As part of the celebrations, Narendra Modi participated in Vishesh Maha Puja, followed by Kumbhabhishek and Dhvajarohan ceremonies, marking the consecration and hoisting of the temple flag.Prime Minister Modi on Monday offered prayers at the Somnath temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, as part of the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav commemorating the 75th anniversary of the restored temple inaugurated by India’s first president Rajendra Prasad.Before entering the temple, the Prime Minister paid homage to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during his roadshow in Somnath.Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow on his way to the temple, attracting large crowds of supporters amid heightened security deployment in key areas of the city.Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said on May 9 that Prime Minister Modi is visiting Gujarat to attend the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav in Vadodara and inaugurate the Sardar Dham.Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday published an opinion piece ahead of his planned visit to the Somnath temple on May 11, reflecting on the temple’s civilizational significance and paying tribute to those who have protected and restored it over the centuries.Modi said in a post onIn his column, the Prime Minister noted that the visit will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the inauguration of the restored Somnath Temple by India’s first President Rajendra Prasad. Prime Minister Modi also referred to the Somnath Swabhiman Parv held earlier this year to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of the first attack on the temple, describing the history of Somnath as a journey “from ruins to revival” or “from Vidhvans to Srijan”.
