New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday landed at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) at Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh on his one-day visit to Assam. The Prime Minister was received at Chhabua Airport by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior officials of the state government.
Prime Minister Modi also witnessed an aerial display by the Indian Air Force (IAF), which included fighter jets, transport aircraft and helicopters, before flying to Guwahati in a C-130 aircraft from the emergency landing facility.Sukhoi 30 and Rafale jets of the Indian Air Force and helicopters participated in the landing, takeoff and flyover, PTI quoted officials as saying.The Prime Minister will address the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Booth Sammilan’ conference at the Veterinary College ground in Kanappala, where over 86,000 booth-level party members are expected to gather. Ahead of the visit, authorities have tightened security in Guwahati.During his one-day visit to Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu across the Brahmaputra river, connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati.The six-lane extended prestressed concrete (PSC) bridge cost approximately Rs 3,030 crore and is the first extended bridge in Northeast India.Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati, a move expected to strengthen higher education and management education in the region.He will roll out 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa scheme in four cities: Guwahati (100), Nagpur (50), Bhavnagar (50) and Chandigarh (25).The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the North Eastern Region National Data Center at Amingaon in Kamrup District.
