Banerjee urged voters to support her party, positioning itself as the guardian of national security.“I am the candidate of TMC. If you want to keep the country safe, vote for TMC,” she said.The chief minister also claimed that the BJP was attracting outsiders to vote in neighboring Assam as it lacked confidence in winning votes from residents of the state.“The BJP has attracted outsiders to vote in Assam because it has no confidence in winning the votes of the state’s residents,” she said.Banerjee further claimed that the names of nine million people have been removed from the electoral rolls through the Special Intensified Revision (SIR) process.“Nine million people’s names have been removed (through SIR). All institutions in the country are one-sided. The BJP has brought them all,” she said.West Bengal will go to polls in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting scheduled for May 4. The TMC is seeking to retain power against the resurgent Bharatiya Janata Party, which has made significant gains in the state since the 2021 elections.
